Sandy Springs AC Repair
We meter the failure, quote the fix and tell you straight whether your air conditioner is still worth repairing.
The Honest Math on a Broken Air Conditioner
Every AC repair call we take is really two questions wearing one coat: what broke, and is this unit worth fixing at all? Sandy Springs HVAC answers the first with a meter and gauges and the second with arithmetic you can follow. On the diagnostic side, the usual culprits are not mysterious. A run capacitor weakens in the summer heat until the compressor can no longer start. Pitted contacts inside the contactor stop carrying current to the condenser. The outdoor fan motor locks up and the whole unit overheats and shuts down. A pinhole leak lets refrigerant escape until the indoor coil grows a jacket of ice. Algae fills the condensate line, the float switch cuts power, and sometimes water finds the ceiling before anybody notices. Occasionally the trouble is upstream, in thermostat wiring or a circuit board that fails to pass the cooling call along. A couple of minutes of homeowner detective work can rule out the simple stuff first: is the thermostat really in cooling mode with a target below the current reading, has a breaker tripped, is the filter gray and matted, is there water standing in the pan under the indoor unit? Frost on the refrigerant piping means shutting the system down until it melts, because running a frozen coil puts the compressor at risk. Then ring us at (770) 954-8245. Once the cause is confirmed, you hear the repair figure, and on equipment with some years behind it you also see how that figure compares with what a replacement would cost, so the decision is made on numbers rather than nerves. Upstairs units baking in an attic through a sticky Georgia July are usually the first to show these failures, and a weak part caught early tends to spare a costlier one.
Where the Meter Goes on a Cooling Call
Our technicians move through these areas in order until the real cause is proven.
Start components
Run capacitor and contactor measured, since they stop more compressors than anything else.
Motors
Compressor and condenser fan motor draw and windings checked for genuine failure versus missing power.
Refrigerant level
Gauges and line temperatures compared to tell a correct charge from a leak.
Indoor coil
Looked over for frost, grime or restriction that robs the cooling you feel at the vents.
Condensate path
Drain line cleared and the float switch proven so water exits outdoors, not through drywall.
Air movement
Filter, blower and return grilles inspected, because choked airflow is what freezes coils.
Control signal
Thermostat wiring and settings verified so the equipment hears the call.
After-repair numbers
Vent temperature and pressures logged once the fix is in, as proof it worked.
Your AC Call, Step by Step
Describe the trouble
Warm vents, frost, puddles, odd noises or a tripped breaker, plus a rough idea of the unit's age, give the technician a head start.
Cause, quote and context
The failed part is identified and quoted, and on older units you also get the replacement comparison so the figure has context.
Fix and verify
The repair is made, the system completes a cooling run and the readings show the house is getting chilled air again.
What Makes Our AC Repairs Different
Proof over hunches
The repair rests on measurements, so the part that actually failed is the one replaced.
Candid about old units
When repairing tired equipment would be throwing good money after bad, you hear it from us.
Respect for the house
Shoe covers on and drop cloths down around the air handler and closet.

Condenser Running, Rooms Still Warm?
Iced lines or pooling water mean switching the system off first. After that, describe the symptoms and we will get the cause found and quoted.
